Neighbors

When we first came to the small village Ban Mae Jo, we were the first people to come and live there from outside the village relatives. We were also the first people to take residence outside the village in the fields and hills. Since then we have acquired some incredible neighbors and friends whose projects only add to help support our own project as well as provide other options for people.

You Sabai

You Sabai means in direct translation, ‘to live comfortably’ which is what they do. On our east side we’ve had the luck of having the Thai couple, Yao and Krit, come and live next door since 2006. They have started a small earthen home-stay and teach Thai cooking courses. They are incredibly giving fun people who are also writers and are creating a periodical magazine on earthen building and sustainable living.

They run Thai cooking courses every Monday- Thurs at their place and you can contact them about participating.

To register for one of their courses, it is best to call them at 085-720-6201or 086-096-6439 as they do not check email too often but you can also try email at

Panya Project

On the other side of the hill from us is the enthusiastic and emerging Panya Project community. Panya Project is a group of Americans who decided to go in together to buy land to experiment with permaculture, community living, and gardening. We originally met two of the members of this group, during our first workshop at Pun Pun and soon after they decided to create their project next door.

They host Permaculture Design Certification courses as well as other internships and workshops. They also take visitors and the best way to contact them is to email Christian at panyaproject@gmail.com

You can find out more about them at their website www.panyaproject.org.
