From Chaing Mai to Pun Pun

To find public transportation from Chiang Mai:

Go to the US embassey and face the Namping River with the embassey to your back.
Then walk to your right through the intersection and just a bit further down you'll see a Red Cross office on your right. After this you'll see a J. D. Cosmetics shop on your right. Just after the shop is a small road to the right. Turn right down the road and at the end you'll see a tall building on the left. In front of the tall building there will be two large white trucks parked. Go and look on the sides of the back of the truck windows and you'll see on one of them a sign that says "Pun Pun Jon Jandai's Farm". This is how you know you have the right truck. If the truck does not say this it's not the right truck. It is also good to say Jo's name to the driver and if he seems to recognize it or nod then you can also be assured it's the right truck.

He leaves from this spot everyday at noon but is parked there all morning after around 9am. It is good to either find the truck in the morning or arrange to be at the truck by 11:30am to make sure you can find it. It will take around 2 hrs to get to the farm because of stops with other villagers. You will be the last one off and the driver will point you to walk across the fields on the right side of the road.

You will see thatch roofs on the hill in front of you. This is our farm. Go through the gate and walk across the paddy fields. When you get to a T, take a left through the tamarind orchard. Follow the path to the thatch houses on the hill.

If you have any problems please give us a call. Our number is 081-470-1461        and it's easiest to use a mobile phone that is on the road with services for sale. This is common and you'll know they are selling services if you see someone sitting at a small desk with phones and a price on the table. You can then use the phone and pay afterwards. Phone booths tend to gobble change quickly and can cut you off so if you can't find a mobile service make sure you have a pocket of change for the phone booth if you are using it.

If you are driving your own vehicle:

We are located in Mae Taeng District, around 50 km outside Chiang Mai to the north. Take the Chiang Mai- Fang road north out of Chiang Mai. You will pass Mae Rim, then Mae Malai. At Mae Malai market you can start clocking your kms because the turn you will take off the highway is 12 km from Mae Malai market. After Mae Malai you will pass Mae Taeng. After passing Mae Taeng continue and the road will head uphill and you will get into some construction.

Continue on and then you will see on your right a military camp with a gate that looks a lot like the oldstyle Chiang Mai brick walls. After this on your right will be a sign with rocks and a brick border around it and a turn to the right. At the turn is a yellow sign for "Bahk Wang" in Thai. If you do not read Thai look for the first right after the military camp where there is a motorcycle shop on the corner. You will not be able to turn right at this turn because they have recently put in a median but you can go past it to the first place to U-turn and then come back and turn onto the road by turning left. The road has a sharp uphill part before leveling out into a forested area.

Once you get on this road follow it through the trees for about 5 km and until you get to Ban Pajee village. You will see Pajee temple on your right and directly across from it will be a turn to your left that goes through a gate with a Buddha on it and passes over a bridge over a river. Turn left here and go across the bridge, and follow for about 0.5 km until you get to a "T" in the road. Here turn left and follow the road for about 2 km past two temples until you see a telephone booth on your left with a turn across from it to the right. Turn right. This will be your last turn.

Follow the road and after another 2 km you will go through another gate with large wooden pillars and a red tile roof. Then you're in our village Ban Mae Jo. You will see a turn to the right with a sign that says "Baan Thai Project". Turn right here onto this dirt road. Follow it back until you see a "Y" in the road. Here merge left and follow through and around until you come back out again and will see a large sala-style kitchen on your right. Then you are there!

If you feel lost anywhere along the way just ask villagers to get to "Ban Mae Jo". Only do this once you are past Mae Taeng, however, because if you ask people in Chiang Mai they will send you to Mae Jo suburb of Chiang Mai and this is not the same place. Our Ban Mae Jo is a small village that folks will only know about if they are from that area.

Also feel free to call us if you have any problems.
