Simple Living

This is a training for people looking for ways to have a simpler life and practice more sustainable self-reliant living, especially for people from the city or with limited space.  We will display ways of growing food in pots, raising fish and vegetables (aquaponics), natural simple healthcare techniques (detox and using water and food for healing), and making products such as shampoos, hard soap and dish/laundry soap.

Earthen Building
13-15 November 2009
Pun Pun, Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai

Learn the steps to building your own beautiful and sustainable home through this short workshop.  We will build a small adobe bathroom together and learn all the steps including making adobe bricks, siting, foundation, walls, mortar, earthen plasters and clay paints and finishes.

Strawbale Building
4-7 December 2009
Oh’s place, Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai

This is the second strawbale building workshop held in Thailand.  Using easily accessible local strawbales, we will display an easy, cheap, and natural technique that creates a comfortable temperature in the home.  We will also cover earthen plasters, clay paints and finishes.

Free concert for raising awareness on what is happening in our present food crisis.  Activities include:
-    Live bands all day
-    Demonstrations for sustainable living including earthen building, strawbale, raising earthworms for compost, making products, etc
-    Massage and natural healthcare
-    Organic farmer groups products for sale
-    Seeds for exchange, donation, and sale (we invite all participants to bring any seeds you may have as well)
-    Videos on the present food situation
